COSMETIC TREATMENT
PRP Platelet Rich Plasma
What is PRP?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP is a form of regenerative medicine that harnesses and amplifies the natural growth factors found in our blood cells to help heal damaged tissue.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is produced from the patient’s blood supply. PRP injections are prepared by taking a tube of the patients blood. It is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the blood into its various components: red and white blood cells, plasma, platelets etc. The platelets are then collected and concentrated to anywhere from 2-8 times their normal number. The PRP is then injected into the tissue needing repair.
PRP to joints are performed by our scripting Doctor Ghassan Abiad who introduces the PRP into the joint under ultrasound guidance.
Treatment Areas with PRP

- Gluteal tendons (Trochanteric bursitis)
- Hip and knee Osteoarthritis
- Tear trough/eye area
How does PRP work?
The activation of the concentrated platelets in PRP releases growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells your body produces.
Do PRP treatments have side effects or risks?
Side effects of PRP injections are very limited because the injections are created from your blood and your body should not reject them or react negatively.
As with any injections, there is a remote risk of infection.
Bruising can occur at the site of injections.
What happens if I discontinue treatment?
If you decide not to continue treating once the treatment has worn off, your muscle activity will gradually return, and your wrinkles will slowly reappear. Your wrinkles will not be worse than your pre-treatment state.
